Sony RX100 ::: "Wow" is an understatement!

Fantastic point-n-shoot (“pns”) camera. “Wow” is an understatement. Build quality is exceptional and the image quality really quite amazing for such a small camera. The sensor is very large for a camera this size (same sensor size as the Nikon V1). Images are 20 megapixel and in RAW too. Other impressive plus points:

shutter is virtually silent;
AF is very fast to me
MF is also very intuitive and easy to activate
buttons can be configured
video is EXCELLENT
built-in flash can act as a ‘bounce’ flash (just tilt the flash backwards with your fingers)
it’s truly a portable device - even charging is via the camera. At first I thought this would be a bad idea, but having been able to charge it with an external USB battery pack, I think it’s a great idea.

Unfortunately, Lightroom is not able to read the files just yet but an update is surely in the works.

สวัสดีครับ (Sa-wat-dee kraup) ::: Pics from our short firm trip to incredibly hot & extremely spicy Bangkok ::: “I thought you Thai” said the waiter to me. Maybe that’s why he didn’t overcharged me. Had a great time meeting up with Ronnie Teo the Man (wow, who gets to retire at such a young age!!!). Thx Ronnie for the ton of tips on Bangkok, all kinds, even the risque (cos it’s always good to know where to avoid), the food and local ‘talat’ (market) suggestions were the best.

And aside from a brush in with a fan/stalker/conartist and monk who asked me “Is that M9? It’s 250,000 baht here”, Bangkok was a blast.

Strictly Street ::: In living colour ::: I started getting into street photography when I traveled alone on business. It seemed odd at first to take pictures of total strangers. Not to mention, there was often an element of insecurity at the thought that the subject would not like his or her picture being taken. I know I wouldn’t. These days, it’s one of my favourite things to do. I still feel a lot like a pickpocket taking a ‘souvenior’ of a street scene (and someone’s privacy on occassion). I won’t have it any other way though. This is a collection of my attempts this year at colour street photography.

These walls ::: Singapore This is a simple series of pictures of, well, walls around Singapore. It started off as an idea to show how imagery can be enhanced by the thought of something or a mere suggestion. Soon, I was trying to see how the suggestion of what lies behind those walls had the power to transform or just simply change the person walking in front of it. I hope that I can grow the number of pictures that can be added to this album.
